Improving economics teaching and learning for over 20 years

INERME’s mission is to develop and disseminate research in the field and to serve as a valuable platform offering practical and informal advice to educators concerned with mathematics in economics education.

Following the success of its inaugural conference at the University of Agder, Norway in January 2024, INERME is pleased to announce that its second conference will take place 10-11 September 2025 at the University of Leeds, UK, just before the Developments in Economics Education conference.

Themes

The main themes of the conference will be:

  • The impact of artificial intelligence on learning and teaching in mathematics for economics
  • Assessment of mathematics in economics in the 21st century
  • Innovative approaches to teaching mathematics in economics
  • Mathematical competencies for economists
  • and other areas related to the mathematical education of economists.

Keynote

The conference will include a keynote address given by Professor Duncan Lawson, MBE, co-director of the Sigma Mathematics Support Centre at Coventry University.

IREE Special Issue

A DEE/ INERME 2025 special issue of the International Journal of Economics Education is accepting submissions. Authors should click on "Submit your article", log in, and select the submission types "VSI: IREE 2025_Research Article" or "VSI: IREE 2025_Review Article".

Venue and accommodation

The University of Leeds is just a 10-minute walk from the vibrant city centre, which offers a wide range of places to stay, but is also compact and easy to get around with regular public transport services. Leeds is well connected, nationally and internationally, with excellent transport links. Travel directions to the university are found here.
