Improving economics teaching and learning for over 20 years

Economics LTSN at RES Conference 2001

Up: HomeEvents

The centre contributed again to the Computing Sessions at the Royal Economic Society's (RES) Annual Conference, held this year at the University of Durham. Chris Mitchell, Centre Manager of Economics LTSN chaired three presentations that focused on innovative methods for embedding technology into learning and teaching practice. John Sloman, Director of the Centre, presented an overview of imaginative uses of the Web, Ken Heather of the University of Portsmouth demonstrated his video streamed lectures and Andy Beharrell of Bized and Mark Sutcliffe of the University of the West of England respectively demonstrated the Virtual Economy and presented a case study of its use. This was followed by demonstrations of econometrics software in the Research-focused latter half of the Computing Session.

As with previous years, the lively and informative presentations ensured that the session was a success and we look forward to extending our involvement with the RES in the future.
